Abha Dalmia
Abha Dalmia has always been inclined towards social service. She has also been passionate about Arts & Culture. After her marriage in early 1960's and residing in their cement factory in Orissa, she worked with the Gram Panchayat for the upliftment of the adivasi children. She also saw the willingness of the adivasi women and started a school to skill them in fine embroidery and organized its sale in Kolkata and Mumbai. In the 1970's, she shifted to Delhi and joined the family business as Joint Director looking after exports and started a travel agency.
Mrs Dalmia has been associated with the textile industry for the past 40 years and has taken it upon herself to revive the dying Benarsi textile through her company, LIFE.
She was also instrumental in 1983 along with Mrs Indu Jain to start the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), the women's wing of FICCI. It was a platform to empower women, foster entrepreneurship and create opportunities where none existed. From the original 150 members, FLO has grown into a vibrant network of 20 Chapters across India representing over 12,000 plus active members.
For the last 20 years, she has been actively involved in a cultural organization "Samagam" which promotes performing arts and has been known for their excellent programmes.
