Sadho Dekho: A Sufi Musical by Vipin Heero & Ragini Rainu
Vipin Heero is a Hindi singer-songwriter and actor from Delhi, with a distinct sound and style. His craft is all about the spoken word, transforming stories that are based on real-life incidents and observations into songs. Vipin is able to compose songs spontaneously, which turn out to be extremely memorable and hum-worthy. His music always elicits a laugh, and is sure to bring a smile to your face.
Ragini Rainu, the young Sufi songstress of India, is the disciple of the Legendary Santoor Maestro and Music Composer Pandit Bhajan Sopori. With a strong base of classical gayaki, her style is embedded with tayari and bhava. Hailing from Jammu, Ragini was born in 1982, and represents the Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir, singing primarily in the structured Sufi Ang (style), as well as the Ghazal & poetic Kafi genres. Unquestionably brilliant, she is equally at ease with traditional genres and modern nuances. With her individualistic style, and a rich repertoire of compositions, she is the rightful heir to the legacy of Sufi music, and is India's young Sufi Diva. Ragini has been honoured with various awards, including the prestigious ‘Global Punjabi Award– 2014’ by Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, ‘SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman – 2013’ by Music legend Pt. Bhajan Sopori, ‘J&K Dogri Award – 2008’ by the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, and ‘Sur Shree Award – 2006’ by legendary vocalist Pt. Tejpal Singh, among others. She was honoured with the ‘Radio 92.7 Big FM Award - 2011’ for her contributions to music. She was also awarded ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ at the Jeonjo Sori Korean Music Festival, 2005. Ragini’s name features in various Biographical-note Volumes, such as “Asia Pacific Who’s Who” and “Asian Admirable Achievers, 2013”. Her exuberance and inimitable voice brings the ecstatic expression of Sufism to life, with each rendition drowning the audience in the richness of tradition. Ragini is a Graduate in English Literature and holds a Masters Degree in Music. She started learning music at an early age. She has performed in various International Festivals of India and abroad, including the prestigious ‘Jeonjo Sori Heritage Festival’ (Korea), ‘International Moroccan Festival’ (Morocco), ‘SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan’ (Delhi), ‘AIIMS Pulse Festival’ (Delhi), ‘SaMaPa Aalap Festival’ (Jammu), ‘Lalded Festival’ (Kashmir), and ‘Sufi Festival’ (Jammu).
